Free STEM Event, Thurs. Jan. 18th

On Thursday, January 18th, the Dahlgren Heritage Museum will conduct the first 2024 free STEM session for local 2nd to 8th graders.  The students will learn about Geiger Counters and participate in demonstrations guided by STEM instructor Dr. Andrew Fairbanks, a naval engineer at Dahlgren.  The Geiger Counter is an

electronic instrument used for detecting and measuring ionizing radiation.  It is widely used in applications such as radiation dosimetry, radiological protection, experimental physics, and the nuclear industry.  The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the museum, 3540 James Madison Pkwy. in King George.  It is free and open to the first 15 2nd-8th graders to register.
